A Kenyan university lecturer, Sheila Wanjiku Kibinge, has been sentenced to death for murdering her husband over family property. According to Kenya’s Daily Nation report, the suspect said to be a university lecturer in the US and also a Ph.D. student, was handed the sentence on Tuesday by High Court Judge, Jessie Lessit. “The prosecution, led by State Prosecutor Evelyn Onunga, has proved beyond reasonable doubt that you purposed to kill your husband although you allege you were both kidnapped the night your husband was executed,” Justice Lessit said. The judge dismissed her defence that her husband was killed by kidnappers. He told the court that the accused murdered her husband by shooting him in the head, neck and chest in Gitaru village, Kikuyu, Kiambu County. President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Thursday, said that he has not resigned his membership from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. Saraki who stated this at the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, disclosed that he remains a member of the APC, both in ”soul and spirit.” Saraki, however, blamed the development on inactivity in the APC, saying that the party’s leadership had failed to focus it properly.
